I’m Leaving Right After This Drink

Volume One
Don’t Tell Mom
A life in stories, one round at a time.
The Story

Where it all started

Volume One goes back to the beginning — Granite City, Illinois, a blue-collar steel town just across the river from St. Louis, where a normal, awkward kid fell hard for rock and roll and never looked back. From homemade Budweiser Halloween costumes and a first white Fender to forty-ouncers, first concerts, and the day he decided a haircut and a real job could wait, it’s the origin story of a life lived at full volume — told the way the best bar stories are: loud, honest, a little reckless, and always with one more round in it.

“It’s just before two in the morning, and I’m the only living soul who’s supposed to be inside this building.”

Word From the Bar

The people who were there

We weren’t making memories on purpose. We were just screwing around. Turns out that was exactly how the best memories got made.

Jeff Miller · from the Foreword

I can genuinely say I’ve drank more beer in his white Monte Carlo than in any car I’ve ever been in.

Russell Boyer

I got arrested for this dude. That’s a true friend.

Bryan Shaw

Bryan Shaw has spent his life behind the mic and the soundboard — from small-market radio to launching one of the internet’s first 24/7 rock stations, MFNRocks.com, over a 56K modem when everyone told him it would never work. I’m Leaving Right After This Drink is his memoir, told in volumes, one round at a time. He still has all the guitars.
